HOME > FIELD CONDITIONS
Field Conditions are
monitored differently - depending on the day of the week.
During the weekdays (Monday -
Friday), the Town of Arlington monitors and decides which
fields are playable.
On the weekends, the fields are
monitored by the Arlington Soccer Club. The Club
will try
to make notifications on this website:
- no later than 7:30 AM, if
morning games are cancelled
- no later than 10:00 AM,
if afternoon games are cancelled
All queries
about game and field cancellations should be directed to the coaches for the
final word.

A Note from our
ASC President concerning
"Field closing policies"
It has come to my attention that some coaches and parents feel we are being too conservative with the decisions we make in closing fields. Well....you're right! We are also going to continue to be conservative with our field closure policies in an effort to do the best we can to protect our playing fields.
Please understand that we are doing the best we can. Our local meteorologists go to school for years to learn their trade, and they haven't been able to call the weekend's weather much more accurately! We base our decisions on "field conditions" not weather conditions. It is possible for it to be a nice sunny day after a storm, and still have the fields closed with puddles and soft spots. We also try to make the decisions as early as possible in the day to not have people waiting all day just to find out their game has been cancelled, and we have to take into consideration that some of our travel teams come from as far as Attleboro and Marlboro, and need to know before they leave. You should always call the ASC hotline at 781-641-4085 for field cancellations over the weekend.
Our policy is to make a decision before 7:30am for morning games, and by 11:00am for afternoon games if we think there is a chance for improvement.
You also need to know, and I believe this was stated at our coaches meeting that the ASC has the final say on our fields over the weekend. That means even if the town website says the fields are open, and our hotline lists them as closed, they are closed for soccer for the day! The reverse is true as well. We are held responsible for any damage we do to fields by playing on them, and I would rather cancel a few games then get a bill from the town for thousands of dollars of field repairs. Coaches may NOT take it upon themselves to change these decisions and play games on closed fields.
Let's all just relax, and get in as many games and practices as possible and have fun!
